Years ago, Mom and Grandma would have loved to have a pressure cooker so that meals could be cooked quickly and deliciously, but they wouldn't get one because they thought they were dangerous. Fast forward to 2010 and meet the Fagor 3-in-1 multi-cooker which is perfect for all your cooking needs. An early pressure cooker was called a steam digester, invented by Denis Papin, a French physicist in 1679. It was a device for extracting fats from bones, which made them brittle so they could easily be ground into bone meal. In present day pressure cookers, the food is cooked at a temperature above the normal boiling point of water so viruses and bacteria are killed. AS the pressure increases, the boiling point of water increases, so the pressure built up in the cooker makes the liquid in the pot rise to a higher temperature before boiling. Very little water is required so vegetables aren't cooked covered with water like on the stove. In that case, when you throw out the water you lose vitamins and minerals. In the Fagor multi-cooker, small to medium potatoes cook in eight minutes, shredded cabbage in one minute, and fresh green beans in three minutes. Lentils, beans, and brown rice which normally cook in 45 minutes can cook in 10 minutes.
